Step 1.

Step 2.

Step 3.

This is very important, as this document needs to be uploaded to the system and be easy to read.

Along with the transfer form, it is highly recommended that you complete a purchase receipt. After you have completed all the paperwork, keep a copy of all the documents so that you have proof of the transaction.

Step 4.

Notify the VicRoads department within the next 14 days of the transaction.

As the seller of the vehicle, you must submit the “Disposal Notification” using your VicRoads account, and notify VicRoads of the transaction. Once this process is complete, the vehicle will be transferred to the new owner within a day. The buyer then has to complete the online procedure using VicRoads personal account and the next steps and pay the fee to finally complete the process. Failure to complete all of this process within the 14 day timeframe will result in the transaction being suspended.

Please note that all documents will be requested at this point, and you will be asked to upload a picture or scan a PDF of the transaction documents.

In this case it is the responsibility of the dealers themselves to go through all the paperwork on your behalf. A fee will be paid and it is strongly recommended that a copy (or photograph) of all signed documents be retained.
